Let’s make Seen
2024
Group project by
Anil Aydinoglu, Kitman Yeung, Gift Lalicha Lalitsasivimol
Performative installation; fruit skins, seeds, water/ice, plastic globe-atlas, rocks extracted from Erfurter Seen, flat plate, soil
Our -as humans- forceful dismantling of a plastic globe atlas, ‘Let’s make Seen’ unveils an ice stone globe, embodying rocks, seeds, and fruit skins frozen in momentary contours. This eruption symbolizes the rupture of human-centric narratives, exposing the intricate layers beneath the surface of our collective consciousness. As the plastic globe yields to our intervention, an "artificially" smooth ice stone globe is revealed, cradling within it earthlings—rocks extracted from Erfurter Seen, seeds, and fruit skins. This ethereal sphere encapsulates the temporality of our interconnected existence, fostering a contemplative space where the agency of rocks, seeds, and fruit skins converges with human interventions, offering a poignant reflection on our entangled existence within the lithospheric tapestry.

The Alperstedter See is the largest of the “Erfurt Lakes”. The name of the lake has been established for many years, although Alperstedter See lies almost entirely in the territory of the municipality of Nöda.
It is largely finished, some areas are subject to natural succession. The operating facilities on the north bank are required to process the gravel extracted from the Pfaffenstiegsee. Therefore, the renaturation of the north bank is not expected until after 2018.
